In 1980 Tom took a position at Kawasaki Motor Corp, USA in the Research and Development department initially for the street bike projects but then later moved to help with off road projects such as the KX60, KX80/100, KX250, KX500 and worked extensively on the first 3 wheeler, the KLT200.
At the end of 1982, Tom moved to the factory motocross team as a lead mechanic. His riders included Billy Liles from ‘83-‘85, Eddie Warren in ’86, Jeff Ward ’87-’92 and Mike LaRocco in ’93. During this timeframe, Tom collected 5 AMA National titles and 5 AMA mechanic of the year awards. He attended the MX des Nations 7 times and was one of the key forces in Kawasaki’s choice to implement the first big rig in motocross history and was team chief in ’91-’93.
Cool resume, right? So, now with over 40 years of high performance engine building experience, you may ask what can he do for you? I can tell you from first hand experience that TMR knows how to make power. He has done performance modifications to several of my engines and they were always noticeable to me.
